A botanical art study of one plant to discover how it informs both your art and your awareness, and reveals its medicine to you. Four classes over 4 weeks, painting each Tuesday morning with a small group.
You can choose any plant - whether its known or unknown to you, medicinal, or any herb, plant or flower - what's exciting is that through the artistic study its medicinal qualities or personal relationship to you and your work will unfold.
We will be working with specific observation techniques and artistic practices, looking at teachings from Goethe, botanical art traditions and the imaginations of other artists. For example, Paul Klee understood his work as intimately connected with the life and symbolism of plants and he used this to understand and teach art, speaking of the need to attune to life’s elemental operations “into dimensions far removed from the conscious process.”
This is what we will do.
Tutor: Eleanor Darley, artist and transpersonal art counsellor.
Time 9.30am-12.30pm each week. Tuesday mornings 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th May. Commitment is to the 4 painting sessions.
